Location: Near Bourton-on-the-Water, Cotswolds
Salary: £18–£22 gross per hour
Hours: 35 hours per week, with some flexibility including occasional weekends
Accommodation: One-bedroom self-contained bungalow
About the Family
This is a warm and informal family based in a large farmhouse in the heart of the Cotswolds. The family includes four grown-up children who visit regularly, along with grandchildren. The family have three much-loved elderly dogs as well as cats and horses. The house is busy at times and very peaceful at others – especially when the family are travelling. They’re looking for a kind, reliable, and proactive live-in Housekeeper who can offer peace of mind while they’re away and pitch in wherever needed when they’re home.
Role Responsibilities
This is a varied and hands-on role, perfect for someone who enjoys the rhythm of country life and working in a well-run household. Day-to-day tasks will include general housekeeping across the home (only some of the 9 bedrooms are in regular use), family-style cooking when needed would be a bonus, laundry and wardrobe care, light errands, and looking after the dogs.
The dogs stay at the property during the week when the couple aren't there, so you should be happy to care for them, feed them, take them for walks and the occasional vet visit when needed.
When the family are away, you’ll take the lead in caring for the property and the dogs, ensuring the house is secure, tidy, and running smoothly. An interest in animals is essential, the groom looks after the horses but an interest in horses would be a bonus.
Some weekends may involve helping with informal entertaining.
