House Manager for a Welcoming Family Weekend Home in the New Forest

Salary: £45,000–£60,000 gross per annum (depending on experience)
About the Family
This is a wonderful, warm family with twin teenage daughters. Their New Forest property is a much-loved weekend home where they typically arrive on Friday evenings and head back to London on Sunday evenings.They’re looking for someone exceptional to become a steady, trusted presence in the house, someone who can manage a beautiful estate to a high standard, while also building a genuine and supportive relationship with two bright, active teenage girls.
The household staff includes 2 gardeners and a housekeeper who attends twice weekly, alongside a local cook. When the family are travelling or not in residence, there is flexibility in your schedule.
The Role
This is a true blend of high-level house management and thoughtful family support. You’ll take the lead in ensuring the large 5 bedroom property is always beautifully presented and ready for the family’s arrival each weekend, from bedroom resets and restocking to lighting the fire and adding personal touches that make it feel like home.
You’ll oversee the day-to-day running, coordinating staff and contractors, managing service schedules, tracking household accounts and utilities, maintaining inventories, and liaising with the London-based team to ensure smooth transitions between homes. There are ongoing post-renovation and landscaping projects, so confidence dealing with contractors and keeping projects moving is important.
Alongside this, you’ll be a warm and consistent presence for the girls, helping them settle locally, supporting their routines, driving them to activities, and acting as a trusted, grounded adult in their lives. You’ll assist with managing the family diary which includes arranging care for the family dog, organising seasonal events and celebrations as well as booking bespoke activities (from sailing to creative workshops).
Wardrobe management also forms part of the role: seasonal rotations, coordinating specialist cleaning or tailoring, overseeing sports kit and sailing equipment.
The family enjoy hosting, so you’ll also plan and deliver private gatherings and relaxed dinner parties, sourcing local suppliers and creating thoughtful, personalised experiences for guests. Cooking experience would be a real bonus. While there is a local cook, being able to confidently prepare or finish supper, particularly warming or plating dinner ready for the family’s Friday evening arrival, would be very much appreciated.
