A Lovely Part-Time Live-In Domestic Couple Role – Silchester, Hampshire

Salary: £50,000–£55,000 gross per year, joint salary (depending on experience)
Working Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week when the family is not in residence, increasing to around 40 hours per week when they are in residence. Some weekend flexibility required during busier periods.
Accommodation: Private 1-bedroom cottage on the estate (utilities included)
About the Family
We are working with a private client who owns a beautiful and well-maintained estate in Hampshire. The main property is 5 bedroom, along with a separate two-bedroom guest cottage, all set within peaceful countryside surroundings.
The family is in residence for approximately three months of the year, typically during the shooting season (September to January), as well as occasional weekends in the spring and summer. For the remainder of the year, the estate is unoccupied, and the focus is on its upkeep, care, and security. This is a lovely opportunity for a couple seeking a quieter, rural lifestyle with a balance of independent working and busier periods when the family is in residence.
The Role
This is a hands-on and varied role suited to a capable and self-sufficient couple who can take pride in managing the estate together.
When the family is not in residence, the role is centred around house-sitting and general upkeep. You will work together to maintain the home to a high standard through regular housekeeping and periodic deep cleaning, ensuring everything is always ready for the family’s return. A key part of the role is being present on-site for security purposes, as well as caring for the chickens and keeping the estate running smoothly day to day.
When the family is in residence, the role naturally divides into two complementary focuses:
- One partner will take the lead inside the home, focusing on high-standard housekeeping, laundry, and preparing simple, home-style meals. They will ensure the interiors are beautifully maintained, organised, and welcoming, with a calm and attentive approach to the family’s needs.
- The other partner will focus on the exterior and operational side of the estate, including general maintenance, handyman duties, and driving responsibilities. This includes running errands, shopping, and airport collections (with an estate car provided), as well as ensuring the grounds and overall presentation of the property are well cared for.
